This is a two hour burn trauma education following the American Burn Life Support guidelines and recommendations by the UMC Regional Burn Center in Lubbock for prehospital and emergency center settings. This edited education is based on a live virtual educational presentation with guest physician John Griswold M.D., FACS (Medical Director of the Timothy J. Harnar Burn Center at UMC) providing his clinical PEARLs and recommendations for the prehospital and hospital care of the burn patient. The education is divided into six lessons with a short quiz after each one. The final lesson is the course evaluation.

The lessons are set up so you can watch an approximately 15 to 20 minute part of the video and then answer a few quiz questions on that content. If you have to step away from the education or need a break, your progress is saved at that point.

Recertification hours offered:

  • Texas state recertification: 2 hours for the Trauma content area
  • NREMT recertification: 0.5 hour towards Trauma: Fluid Resuscitation and 1.5 hours towards Local or Individual Continued Competency
