Thank you for attending the virtual continuing education session presented by Dr. Thivakorn Kasemsri and Dr. John Griswold of Texas Tech University and University Medical Center of Lubbock on September 15, 2022. In total, you’ll earn 2.5 hours of continuing education credit that may be used towards your Texas state recertification or your NREMT recertification.
To meet our EMS CE licensing requirement with the Texas Department of State Health System (and allows us to offer NREMT credit), we ask that you complete an honest appraisal of the courses so we may continue to improve. The first section is a multiple-choice assessment of course elements and our presenters. The second section is an optional comments area — if we didn’t meet your expectations, please let us know. If you enjoyed the course and would like to see more like this, let us know about that too!
After completing both sections, a personalized CE certificate will be made immediately available for download. The certificate will remain in your account in case you need to retrieve it later. Since our physicians presented across a wide range of treatment considerations, the CE certificate itself lists the recommended recertification content areas as described below.
Recertification Content Area: For Texas state recertification (non-NREMT): 1 hour towards Pediatrics, 1 hour towards Trauma, and 0.5 hour towards Special Considerations. If you have already met your recertification needs for any or all of these content areas, remember that the unallocated time can shift into your “Additional Units in any Approved Category” requirement.
If you are renewing using your NREMT, the content areas are allocated as: 1 hour towards Trauma: Central Nervous System Injury and 0.5 hour towards Operations: At-Risk Populations. The remaining hour is split depending on your certification level: If you are a paramedic or Advanced EMT, you can allocate half an hour towards Trauma: Fluid Resuscitation. If you are an EMR, EMT, or have that content area already fulfilled by another CE course, the remaining hour may be directed towards your Local (if Medical Director approved) or Individual Continued Competency area. Remember that with the NREMT, any “leftover” (excess) hours can be assigned to your Local or Individual content areas for recertification.
